Romans 13 is Paul’s reminder that faith isn’t just vertical—it’s horizontal. He tells the believers in Rome that following Jesus means living responsibly under earthly authorities, not because Caesar deserves their worship, but because God deserves their obedience. Then Paul takes the lens even closer: “Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another.” Finally, he raises the urgency: the night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So wake up, throw off the clothes of darkness, and put on Christ like a robe of light. Romans 13 reminds us that discipleship is not passive waiting—it’s active readiness; knowing the King is coming.
